Orphans In Our Own Way

So, today is valentines day. First off. Happy valentines day to everyone. Happy Chinese New Year to everyone. Happy birthday to my friend Kavi.

So, I'm usually not a big fan of all this loving stuff, the whole doodle diddle. Mainly because I've just never felt like getting into it and it's silly spending money on a day like this. I still don't go all mushy and such, but this year I did do something kinda cool (and tasty for me) for my boyfriend.

So happy valentines day Phil. You're quite kiff if you ask me.

Other than that, I went to quite a cool show last night. Went to go watch aKING and Wrestlerish play an acoustic set about 20 minutes away from home. It was quite hot, quite small, quite loud. But my word, was it worth it. These bands never cease to amaze.

I'll also be returning to Splashy Fen this year once again. It's about a month and a half away. Which makes me quite excited. Also I asked last night and Werner Olckers (leadsinger for Wrestlerish) said that they signed the contract to play Splashy yesterday morning. I'm quite happy.

Anyway.
Love to all.

Okay. Have you ever heard what it sounds like when a person takes nails to a chalk board? Worst sound ever right? Now imagine the complete opposite and you'll have aKING. This band fronted by, what the voice of sweet baby angels would sound like if they existed, Laudo Liebenberg. This band is something more than just your ordinary band.

Living in south africa makes the music scene a lot more Primitive than you'd wish it to be, but now, don't get me wrong we have great talent and quite a bit of potential. But nothing quite like these guys.

There's something about seeing four guys pour their heart and souls into something so successfull that just makes you start smiling, and pretty dorky at that I might add. They're one of the few bands that almost 80% of different scene kids will all agree to enjoy and listen to. Something about their music. Their lyrics, damn, just their overall talent. That draws you in and makes you feel like at this moment nothing is wrong and all your worries have blown away.

I recently got the joy of being a photographer for a Jose Cuervo event and aKing was the launch band for their Black brand of tequila.

I hope you enjoy the photos.
I'm pretty proud of them.
Love much.
